Distribution Centre Operations Manager

Retail Distribution Centre – Retail - Birmingham, West Midlands

Are you an Operations Manager with experience of managing operations for Retail Distribution Centres?

Are you experienced in matrix managing large teams (up to 100 heads)?

A unique opportunity has arisen here at Signet Jewelers to manage operations in our retail distribution centre in Hockley Birmingham, which supplies Jewellery, Watches and Gift items out to our H.Samuel and Ernest Jones stores throughout the UK, Eire and the Channel Islands and also despatches eCommerce orders to our online customers.

As Operations Manager with Signet you’ll take full accountability for accurate validation, processing and management of the intake of new stock, store and customer fulfilment and reviews flow (returns) product from our stores or customers. Reporting in to the Head of Customer fulfilment you’ll be responsible for delivering the Logistics strategy, incorporating management of the day-to-day operation, delivery of cost reduction programs, project management of internal initiatives, leveraging technology to drive out efficiencies, challenging the status quo and getting the best out of our people.

 

About You

Suitable applicants will have experience in the following:

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of a high-volume retail distribution centre
  • Experience of goods intake, despatch, returns and E-commerce
  • Proven track record of effectively leading and motivating large distribution centre teams to deliver results (100+)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of logistics and distribution systems
  • Clear understanding of priorities and key drivers within a retail business
  • Analytical skills and a proven ability to “make sense” of large amounts of data
  • Good IT Literacy (MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Anyone with Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or above) would be of particular interest
